Toronto, ON (October 14, 2008) - Dunt-da-dunt-da-dunt! Molson and TSN are giving fans a piece of Canadian heritage and hockey history by offering 10,000 free ring tones of the newly re-recorded The Hockey Theme. The campaign is in celebration of Molson Canadian becoming the title sponsor for TSN’s flagship Wednesday night NHL Hockey broadcasts, making Wednesdays the biggest night of the week for hockey fans. It all starts October 15, 2008 when the newly branded Molson Canadian Wednesday Night Hockey on TSN brings hockey fans the biggest games, the best hockey analysis and the best hockey theme song.

“Molson Canadian Wednesday Night Hockey puts the middle of the week right into the middle of the action,” said Pamela Ouellette, Brand Manager, Molson Canadian. “Hockey is back, and just in time; we are all ready for a change of season. Millions of fans are waiting for their teams to hit the ice and The Hockey Theme to hit the airwaves.”

Beginning October 15, fans can become a Molson Canadian Insider and download The Hockey Theme by visiting www.molsoncanadian.ca/hockey. CTV Inc. recently re-recorded the classic rendition and will feature it nationally in both French and English Canada in the openings of NHL games on TSN and RDS.

“It is the 40th anniversary of Canada’s second national anthem and we are celebrating by partnering with TSN to offer it to Canadians in a format they can enjoy year round,” said Ouellette. “The song is synonymous with hockey and Canada. It lives in our hearts, our minds and now our cell phones.”

TSN is home to The Hockey Theme and the only network with Wednesday night hockey; there are no other national or local Wednesday NHL telecasts on any other Canadian networks. For the first time, every Wednesday night game on TSN will feature a Canadian team.

“Molson Canadian Wednesday Night Hockey is the flagship program of TSN’s monster NHL lineup for 2008-2009,” said Shawn Redmond, Vice-President of Marketing, TSN. “With more than 115 games on TSN and TSN2, Canadian fans will see more regular season games and more national coverage of Canadian teams than ever before.”

About The Hockey Theme

The Hockey Theme was written in 1968 by Dolores Claman. It was originally commissioned by the MacLaren advertising agency in Toronto, who were looking for a powerful commercial jingle suitable for the big game of hockey. Last month, CTV Inc. restored The Hockey Theme to its classic glory, using 21st century technology to make it better than ever before. The result is a new rendition that evokes the historic sentiment of the song as well as the energy and spirit of Canada's national pastime. CTV Inc. recently announced that Montreal’s Simple Plan would be the first in a series of Canadian artists who will re-record special renditions of the iconic The Hockey Theme. Simple Plan’s version of the theme will debut during the Boston @ Montreal NHL game on TSN and RDS on Wednesday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
